Scott Hammel, Ph.D.

Dr. Scott Hammel is a clinical psychologist who specializes in psychotherapy, psychological and neuropsychological assessment and testing, and providing clinical supervision.  He has been in private practice since 2002 and provided psychological services as a master's level of psychologist from 1994 until earning his Ph.D. in 2000. 

Dr. Hammel enjoys teaching and is an Adjunct Professor for St. Edward's University's Masters of Arts in Counseling Program.  He has taught various graduate level courses, including theories of counseling and therapy, child and adolescent psychotherapy, assessment, group psychotherapy, and practicum. 

Dr. Hammel works with a diverse population and with individuals of all ages.  At the current time, in addition to his office practice, he is the clinical consultant to Casey Family Programs and to the Settlement Home for Children's Foster Family Program -- where he provides clinical supervision and consultation with treatment staff.  He also is the founding and acting Practicum Director for Seton Shoal Creek Hospital, providing supervision and training to doctoral level students from the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Hammel has a particular interest in giftedness and gifted education.  In addition to conducting assessments and therapy with gifted children and adults, he supervises the assessment work of the admissions director for ACE Academy, a specialty school for gifted children.

When he is not working, you can find Dr. Hammel spending quality time with friends, enjoying his family, and skiing -- his favorite hobby.  He is also one of the leaders of a high school youth group, and was recently awarded the Distinguished Youth Services Award.
